Autumn Term Parent Workshops
If you would like to attend one of the following workshops, please complete the slip sent out through class or email anne.wood@brandhall.sandwell.sch.uk. All workshops should run no longer than 1 hour and take place in the main school hall.
RSE and PSHE Consultation on Tuesday 10th September 9am (all year groups):
As you may be aware, at Brandhall Primary School we use the Jigsaw scheme to teach our PSHE (Personal, Health, Social, Economic) and RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) lessons. Jigsaw combines PSHE, RSE, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development.
Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike.
Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they really are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.
There are six Puzzles (half-term units of work) each with six Pieces (lessons). Every year group studies the same Puzzle at the same time (sequentially ordered from September to July), allowing for whole school themes and the end of Puzzle product, for example, a display or exhibition to be shared and celebrated by the whole school. Each year group is taught one lesson per week and all lessons are delivered in an age- and stage-appropriate way, so that they meet our children’s needs.
In order to meet best practice and follow government guidelines, each year we hold a parent consultation session, so that parents and carers can have any questions they may have about the PSHE and RSE curriculum answered, and so that school can hear the thoughts and feelings that parents have about the subjects discussed. We value the views of the whole school community, so all are welcome at this session.
Mrs Brewer and Mr Moore will be holding this consultation on Tuesday 10th September at 9am.
